“…the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” – John 6:63

Today was quite emotional for me. I’m in Israel, so that’s enough of a reason.

But while on the Sea of Galilee, the pastor leading the study said, “Truth isn’t just discovered. It’s re-discovered time and time again”.

I found that to be very true as I stood in the ancient synagogue of Capernaum.

John 6 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible because of how it ends. After Jesus finishes his radical sermon (preached in the very building I stood in), many decide to stop following Him.

So, Jesus turns to the twelve and asks them if they’re to going to leave too.

Peter replied, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” – John 6:68

Rediscovery

Every time I’ve been faced with a hard situation in my Christian life, those words were my rallying cry.

Just take the next step, Will.

Jesus is the only person worth following.

Jesus is the only person with the answers.

I’m not facing anything hard right now. I’m having the time of my life here in Israel. However, it brought great joy to re-discover this truth.

I’m so thankful the Lord loves me enough to make old truths fresh. I’m so glad that He doesn’t tell me something once and expect me to get it completely. I’m so grateful that He never gives up on me, even when I’m struggling with the hard things He wants me to do.

Maybe you’re facing a difficult course of action. Instead of debating with yourself (and the Lord) about how you’re going to do it, why not take a few moments right now to thank Him for loving you enough to keep working on you 🙂

And then re-commit to following Him no matter what He asks.
